What Happens During a Prenatal Appointment
As experienced midwives, we offer comprehensive medical care in a beautiful, welcoming and comfortable setting at our center. We are committed to the highest level of respectful, compassionate, and informed care during the amazing experience that is the growing of a new life.

Schedule of Prenatal Appointments
A schedule of prenatal care depends on a number of factors, including how far along you are into your pregnancy, and whether you are at risk for any complications. A typical schedule for a healthy woman is as follows:
ONCE A MONTH
From start of care until 28 weeks
TWICE A MONTH
From 30 weeks to 36 weeks
ONCE A WEEK
From 36 weeks until birth
Prenatal care visits may be scheduled at greater frequency as needed. In the unlikely event that the pregnancy deviates from low risk, we will consult or refer to a more appropriate health care provider while continuing to offer support and additional information. We work with you as a team and always recognize you as the central decision maker.

Your Birth Options
BIRTH CENTER BIRTH
Our Wichita birth center offers a peaceful, home-like setting for labor and birth, without the bright lights and busy hallways of a hospital. Our private birth suite includes a queen-size bed, birthing tub, and space for your support people, so you can settle in, move freely, and labor at your own pace.
Your midwives are with you throughout labor and birth, monitoring you and your baby while giving you the time and space your body needs. After your baby arrives, you'll rest, bond, and enjoy uninterrupted skin-to-skin time together before heading home as a family.
WATER BIRTH AND HYDROTHERAPY
Many families choose water birth for the comfort and relaxation that warm water can provide during labor. Laboring in our birthing tub can help ease pressure, support relaxation between contractions, and make it easier to change positions as labor progresses. You can use the tub for comfort during labor only, or choose to give birth in the water. Our midwives are trained in water birth and will help you decide what feels right as your labor unfolds.
NATURAL PAIN RELIEF OPTIONS
At Born, we support unmedicated birth with a range of natural comfort measures tailored to you. Your midwives and support team may help you with position changes, movement, birth balls, massage and counterpressure, warm compresses, breathing techniques, and hydrotherapy in the tub. Our goal is to help you feel supported, confident, and in tune with your body throughout labor.
What to Expect During Labor and Birth
Throughout labor, your midwife monitors you and your baby using intermittent fetal monitoring, tracks your progress, and supports you through each stage. You're free to move, eat, drink, and labor in the positions that feel best. After birth, you and your baby stay together for immediate skin-to-skin contact, the golden hour, and support with your first feeding.
Safety and Hospital Transfer
Our midwives are trained in newborn resuscitation and emergency care, and our center is equipped for the unexpected. If you or your baby need care beyond the birth center, we have a clear transfer plan to Wesley Hospital and are located less than 2 miles away. Our team will continue supporting you through the transition.
Postpartum Care After Your Birth
Most families go home within 4 - 6 hours of birth. Our care continues with postpartum visits at 24 - 48 hours, 1 week, 2 weeks, and 6 weeks, including newborn exams, feeding and lactation support, and checks on your physical and emotional recovery.
